Filkins and its two country churches:

Cotswold Woollen Weavers lies in the beautiful Parish of Filkins and Broughton Poggs, which has a population of about 400. Almost all of our village is built in our mellow Cotswold stone from an ancient quarry just outside the village. This includes Cotswold Woollen Weavers mill which was built in 1721.

We have two beautiful churches - both dedicated to St Peter. St Peter's, Broughton Poggs is of Saxon origin, and therefore over 1000 years old. St Peter's, Filkins was designed by GE Street, a pupil of William Morris who lived at nearby Kelmscott, and built in 1854. John Betjeman, the poet, thought it "simple and subtle in local stone: a delightful place".

It still is a delightful place - do come to the Cotswolds and see for yourself...
