All good fan clubs have fan magazines (as opposed to fanzines which are usually produced by unofficial fans rather than the official fan club).

Vampi has had her own fan club since 1970.  The club was launched in the rare Vampirella #3 when fans were asked to give the club a name and send in their art and comments (incidentally the first letters column also appeared in #3 and was called Vampi's Scarlet Letters).

In the next issue the fan club page appeared, and featured the first ever photograph of a Vampirella model.  But no name yet. We had to wait for Issue #5 to discover the new name of the fan club page was Vampi's Flames.

Scarlet Letters #11

Vampi's Flames consisted of stories and art from the fans, and lasted until Vampirella #22 in 1973, when it was replaced by Vampi's Vault, a blend of artist and writer profiles and fanzine reviews, rather than actual fan material.

Fan club advertisement (Warren) Meanwhile, Warren had decided to launch a real fan club with a badge and membership card (and it would appear that was all you got). This was announced in Vampirella #18 (August 1972) and lasted until Vampirella #83 (December 1979) when the ad for the club (see left) mysteriously disappeared from the magazine pages.

Perhaps they ran out of badges and decided it wasn't worth continuing.

Harris Comics took a little while to settle down and decide on their publishing strategy for Vampirella, but things really got rolling when the Vengeance of Vampirella series started.

The first advertisement for Vampi's Scarlet Legion (the new fan club) appeared in Vengeance of Vampirella #4 (July 1994) and the fan club has been going ever since.

This time members were promised rather more (I never joined the original Warren club so I don't know what they originally got).  The main advantage was Scarlet Letters - this time as a regular newsletter. But members get much more, including special offers, alternative variant comics exclusive to the Scarlet Legion, posters, etc.  Originally members also received the retailer promotions (Harris Hotlines) but recently those have stopped.

If you aren't already a member I can really recommend it.  The newsletter alone is worth the price, and the extra specials and exclusives are great.
