When Harris Comics bought out the rights to Vampirella, their first publication in 1988 (Warren's last issue had been in 1982) was the extremely rare magazine issue which followed on from Warren's original series. It was numbered #113 (Warren's last issue had been #112) and contained reprints from the Warren magazines, with five Vampirella stories, one Pantha story and an extra story totally unrelated to the Vampirella mythos. The problem was - it had no context. For Vampirella readers familiar with the character it was a mishmash of storylines and they were all reprints. For new readers there was no explanation, no theme. Unsurprisingly - it apparently didn't sell - although it is now a hot issue for collectors. Harris waited until 1991 before publishing their next effort - the classic Morning in America series, a mixture of comic-sized format and black and white art, published in collaberation with Dark Horse Comics. |

| It was a success, leading to the many series and the rich variety of Vampirella comics since. Harris occasionally continued to publish reprint Warren stories in different (usually short) series over the years, until 1991 when they reproduced the very first Warren issue exactly as it had been (adverts and all) in four alternative covers (see below). | |

1969 Commemorative Issue #1 Four covers, the basic one looking remarkably like the original. For reasons I don't understand my scanner makes the platinum and gold covers look the same - as if with black lettering. In fact they are clearly silver and gold foil effects on the different covers. |
