Mistress Nyx, born of the unholy union between Lucretia and Dracula in Warren's Vampirella #16 (and reprinted in Vampirella Classic #5) first appears in Vengeance of Vampirella #23 as a child in Mordante Castle who is just becoming aware of her destiny, as a child of Chaos. She appears to Vampirella in a dream, predicting that she will kill her. Sure enough this sets the stage for the epic battle that occurs in Death and Destruction #1-#3 between Vampirella and her team and Nyx and Haemorrhage, resulting in the death of Adam van Helsing first and then Vampirella herself. Nyx and Haemorrhage stay on Earth, helping release all the vampires who will spread throughout the Earth laying waste and spreading Nyx' evil. But they had not foreseen Vampirella's return (in Vampirella Lives #1) and this time it is Nyx who suffers when Vampirella kills Haemorrhage. This seems to drive her away for a while, but she has simply gone to Hell where she and her followers occupy a different part to the part that is really Drakulon. She continues to plot the defeat of the Earth, but this time she also plans to destroy Drakulon, thus removing both areas that are dear to Vampirella. In Vampirella Monthly: Hell on Earth #1 - #3 Vampirella once again fights her, only this time Vampirella wins and Nyx apparently loses an arm when the interdimensional gateway she is using closes before she can get away. Ah, but is she really destroyed? |
