Local Heroes live: Firefly -- Portland Arms, Cambridge. It was hot and sweaty at the Portland Arms as debutants Firefly made their bow. Rich harmonies coupled with catchy guitar riffs, along with the vocal talents of Canadian singer Jenni Desvaux, quickly grabbed the crowd's attention. Opening number Same as Yesterday and the haunting Memories were just two stand-out tunes from a band who draw heavily on the influences of Moby and Crowded House. Firefly were at their best when returning to basics, with Curly's tight guitar riffs proving the perfect accompaniment for Jenni's Dido-esque voice. One to watch out for.
