README for Prisma 40 kernel patch set "p40-030801.diff" These patches add support to run Linux/m68k on the Isicad Prisma 40 diskless workstation. The diffs are against the Debian 2.2.17 m68k kernel. The Debian kernel was built as follows: From ftp.debian.org in directory: /pub/mirrors/debian/dists/potato/main/source/devel/ Get the 2.2.17pre6 base kernel: kernel-source-2.2.17_2.2.17pre6.orig.tar.gz And apply this patch: kernel-source-2.2.17_2.2.17pre6-1.diff.gz Then get the m68k patch set: kernel-patch-2.2.17-m68k_2.2.17-0potato1.tar.gz Unpack it and apply the contents in this order: 2.2.17pre6-2.2.17.diff.gz mac68k-2.1.17-20001116.diff.gz bvme6000-rtc.diff.gz mvme147-config.diff.gz mvme147-initrd.diff.gz mvme147-scsi.diff.gz mvme16x-rtc.diff.gz serial167.diff.gz genhd.h.diff.gz 8390.diff.gz NCR5380-reselect.diff.gz atyfb.diff.gz clgen.diff.gz The Prisma 40 patches should then be applied using 'patch -p1'. This is the first release of the Prisma 40 kernel, it has the following features and bugs: Features: Boots with root over NFS (tested using a Redhat 5.1 userland copied from an Amiga). Serial console on 'data terminal' port. Serial mouse on 'joystick' port (mouse port seems to have a hardware fault on my system). Framebuffer support but no framebuffer console yet. Bugs: Serial driver is a horrible hack, needs a complete re-write. No keyboard support. No boot-time hardware detection. George Harvey 4th August 2001
