Once you've begun teaching your puppy slave
the house rules, it's time to teach it how to walk on a leash. You and your puppy need to
learn how to walk on a leash correctly. Before you begin training your puppy to walk on a
leash, purchase a training collar and a leash appropriate for the size of your dog. Your
puppy's choke collar and leash will be used only during your training sessions. You can determine the correct choke collar size for your puppy by
measuring around the largest part of the puppy's head and then adding an inch or two. Now,
a choke collar shouldn't be painful or torturous. If it's put on and used correctly, it
shouldn't hurt the slave. When you snap the choke collar very gently, it should tighten a
bit around the puppy's neck and then loosen immediately. Give the puppy time to
adjust to its choke collar before you start training it. Let it wear the collar, but only
when you're there to keep an eye on it. An unsupervised puppy wearing a choke collar could
seriously hurt itself.
Placement

You will also need to ensure of the slaves placement when
he is walking with you, this is much the same when he is on or off his leash. For all dogs
the leash is there regardless, sometimes it just seems invisable. Classically the dog
walkts to your left site a step behind you - never in front. It is usual that if he does
it is because he forgot himself for a moment and needs a quick reminder - either a gentle
snap on the choke collr or a bleep (not shock) from his remote trainer. |
