Padlock and chainThis by far is the more traditional collar. It is important for a dogslave chain locked around his neck by his Owner,  this one looks permanent, Master has the key, it not only cries out 'slave', but with the dog disk adds another slant - animal. Ownership is an essential part of the dogs psyche, the sense of belonging, the self-identification of what you are, Dog to the core.
It is important have his doggy chain lock (by his Owner) around his neck.
This is one reason why it is one of the logos of the DogHouse, Ownership is an essential part of the dogs psyche, the sense of belonging, the self-identification of what you are. The dog tag is important as it separates him from the traditional slave, yes he is property, but more than that his is basically animal - and treated like one.

Choosing the right Collar Size

Ensure that it is not too tight, tight enough so that it cannot come off, loose enough so that it clanks (the padlock and doggy disk) against his dog bowl when he feels.  As a guide the correct tightness of the chain is when the Master can get his fist around the chain when he pulls on it (don't yank it) it would leave a gap of about an inch from Masters knuckles and the dogs neck. When this is locked on the padlock is then just below the hollow of the neck.  For example for a neck of 16inches (41cm) a chain would typically be about 18.5 inches (47cm)  and the lock link just adding a extra centimeter or two.

Getting your Collar

You can get started with a visit to a hardware store and a pet shop.
Its worthwhile going for one that has some weight to it as it is more likely to have a higher quality of metal under the Chrome plate.  Some stores have tags that they can inscribe your details on the tag whilst you wait.
