The resolution increases considerably at 0.5m traverse interval; at 0.25m the image is sharper but not dramatically improved. The log interval for each set was 0.25 (4 readings per metre). The total distances covered in surveying the 30m grid: 1m traverse - 900m, 0.5m traverse - 1.8km, 0.25m traverse - 3.6km. Even at a 1m traverse interval the extent and geometry of the archaeological site from which this grid was abstracted is clear, and for prospection purposes this interval (at 4 readings per metre) offers a compromise between resolution, survey time and cost.
