9 February - The Digby (Away) Alf Austin Cup ¼ Final

Lost 1-8

And so it came to pass that a giant lived in the land and his name was Goliath (The Digby). This giant terrorized the land and slew all in his path. A hero was needed to fight this giant and a young boy named David (The Dream Team) stepped out to meet him. David pulled from his pocket a sling (set of darts), took aim at Goliath and threw.....

...The dart missed and Goliath beat the crap out of David hitting him with eight heavy blows. As he was about to land his ninth blow, David finally hit the target with his dying effort. Whilst not causing any permanent damage this last blow did cause a nasty scratch and forced Goliath to wear a sticking plaster for the next day.

So what really happened?

Well, I shall spare the team some embarrassment by not giving a dart by dart account but, here are some of the sorry facts.

The quote of the night came from team captain 'Bulldog' Terry Galt "If Jeff could have broke with his first dart we could have won tonight."

It's back to the normality of the League now and last week's result should not affect the team too badly. After all the Digby are the top team in the first division and The Dream Team are fourth in division three so the result was not entirely unexpected.

One last bit of news, The other Farthings Darts team were knocked out of the Aggregate Cup by The Con Club showing that sometimes David can win.
