Last but one match of the season started with the knowledge that two good wins would clinch second place in the league and promotion but that the Dream Team had to play two tough sides whereas their nearest rivals, the Glebe, had to play the Victoria and St Annes.
Up first was Bob 'Bomber' Harris. He lost the first leg but came storming back in the second winning in nine darts, 100, 85, 116. He won the third comfortably but not so impressively. Jeff 'No Fear' Tune came second winning 2-1 including two tons. Deano Willis played next and, whilst not throwing badly, was beaten 2-1. At number four The Old Bill Townsend threw very well to win 2-0 with a 130 finish in the first leg. Match score now 3-1.
Alan Smith played at number five throwing very steady darts in winning 2-0. . Big M, Mark Franks, played at number six. His form has tailed off at the end of the season but he still managed to scrape a 2-1 win to secure the match. Captain 'Bulldog' Terry Galt came in at number seven coming back from one leg down to win quite comfortably.
'Cowboy' Dave Downes played steadily at number eight winning 2-0. Last up was Simon 'The Webmaster' Moss who won the first leg including his first ton of the season. In the next two, however, he could not break soon enough and lost 2-1. This though was another great team result and left The dream Team as favourites for the second spot in the league.
