26 January - The Con Club (KO Cup ¼ Final) - Won 5-4

This performance could be entitled the Deano and Cowboy Show but represented the best overall team effort of the season. Having lost 7-2 to the same team in the league two weeks ago revenge was certainly sweet. Indeed The Con Club put out an even stronger team than the previous encounter.

First up was Jeff 'No Fear' Tune who threw well, 12 scoring darts in the second leg, to win 2-0. At number two Steve 'The Dart' Davies went up against arguably the strongest opponent and, although he lost 2-0, he could have won a leg. 'Bomber' Harris threw at number three and won 2-0 despite not being at his best.

At number four was the first of the night's heroes, Deano Willis, his scoring was good, including a 140, but his finishing was awesome. This was especially true in the first leg where, needing 75, he put the first dart in the 25, bounced out of the bull with the second but then hit the bull with his third. Dean's 2-0 win made the score 3-1. The Old Bill threw at number five, threw some of his best darts, but ended up on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline.

'Big M' Mark Franks was the number six player and he threw his normal steady darts to win the first leg. In the second he stepped up a gear and won in 12 darts including a 180. Alan Smith came in at number seven and threw well in the first leg racing to his double. He could not hit it however and this seemed to upset him and he threw poorly in the second to lose 2-0. Match score now 4-2.

Whilst 'Cowboy' Dave Downes has improved immensely this season his game at number eight represented a high point in his dart's career. His opponent threw well but Dave refused to be put off blowing him away 2-0 including several tons. The match was now won and a semi final place guaranteed. 'Bulldog' Terry Galt strode up to the oche for the last game without a care in the world and with a smile that could have been seen from several miles away. He lost the game 2-0 despite some good darts but it was of no consequence.

The semi finals and final for this competition are played on the same night, March 16th, and The Dream Team need fear no-one. They still need to reproduce this form in the league but a place in the semis in one cup and the possibility of another in the other is no mean feat for a third division outfit.
