22 December - The Prince Hal (Away) - Lost 4-5

This was the second slip up of the season against a team we should have beaten. With only Bob Harris and Craig Townsend missing due to work commitments we had a strong squad. Jeff 'No Fear' Tune opened the match and threw well until he reached his double in both legs. He lost 2-0, his first defeat in five outings. Old Bill Townsend came next, threw poorly in the first leg but then rallied to win 2-1. Big Mark Franks threw at number three. His first leg was a joy to watch, 112 break, 60 and 129 finish for a nine dart game. He slowed down in the second leg but cruised to a 2-0 win remaining undefeated this season and having only lost one leg in five games. Alan 'The has been' Smith threw at four, won the first leg easily in 15 darts, threw abysmally in the second and even worse in the third. He somehow managed to win 2-1 however. Match score now 3-1.

At number five was The Webmaster, who threw well enough to win 2-0 but could not hit his final doubles and lost 2-0 instead. Steve 'the dart' Davies was at six and never looked like winning his game, losing 2-0. 'Cowboy' Dave Downes also had a poor game, struggling to break in both legs. 'Smokey' John Savage brought some sanity back to the proceedings winning 2-0 in his normal efficient manner. He also has not lost in five games and is just behind Big M in the statistics. Match score now 4-4.

Captain 'Bulldog' Terry Galt filled the anchorman role in this deciding game. He broke straight away, threw steady darts but failed to hit his double. In the second leg both players took a little time to break but Terry quickly moved to a finish once he had hit his opening double. In the final leg Terry also threw steadily but was only allowed 12 darts as his opponent threw very well under pressure to win the game and the match for the Prince Hal.

Not the best way to start the festive season and we now have to play the league leaders in our first match of the New Year. We will all make it our resolution to finish top of the league.
