24 April -  The Con Club (Away) - Lost 3-6

This was such a disappointing perfomance to finish the season. The Dream Team should have been playing The Con Club for the league title. Instead silly results away to the Glebe and The Prince Hal left them needing a win against the league champions to secure second place.

There were no real excuses but it has to be said that the Con Club had nothing to play for, having already won the league, and were in party mood which didn't help the concentation of a team under immense pressure.

This pressure was increased by the worst possible start with Bob Harris, Simon Moss and Jeff Tune all losing 2-0. Bill Townsend and John 'Smokey' Savage restored some sanity with good wins but the shock of the night came in the sixth game with Mark Franks losing 2-0, only his second loss of the season. The match score was now 2-4 and The Dream Team needed to win the remaining games to win.

Bulldog played a captain's innings at number seven winning 2-0. Dave Downes lost the first leg but came back to win the second and had a chance to win the game but unfortunately lost and the dream was over. The last game meant nothing but Steve Davies threw quite well despite losing 2-1.

Never mind. It has still been a great season with good cup performances and third in the league. The summer could be difficult with several players taking a rest. Hopefully though we'll all be back together for the next winter season and will manage to go at least one better than this season.
