After last week's biblical epic, a rather bad black comedy. This should have been an easy win but The Dream Team made a real meal of it.
Captain Bulldog had flu and had decided to drop himself. Unfortunately neither Bob Harris nor John Savage turned up and Terry had to play. Alan Smith was also on the sick list with a bad back and had to be summoned from home to make up the nine players.
Up first was 'The Webmaster' Simon Moss who at last managed a win albeit with some difficulty finishing. Jeff 'No Fear' Tune came next and opened with a 160 break. That wasa to turn out to be the high point of his game as he jst managed to win the first leg and lost the next two despite breaking with his first three darts every time and scoring consistently. It just wasn't his night. Deano Willis threw competently at number three to notch up his second win in the league 2-1 while The Old Bill Townsend threw well at number 4 winning 2-0. Match score now 3-1.
Steve 'The Dart' Davies came in at number five and was involved in what was probably the best game of the night. He won the first leg including a 125 but lost the next two despite a further ton and some very consistent throwing. Big M came in next and did not throw anywhere near his best. He still managed a 2-1 win, however.
Cowboy Dave was outclassed losing 2-0 in the seventh game although he did manage a 140. Bulldog was not at his best either. His opponent was no great shakes either and the first game saw Terry throw 57 darts without breaking before he lost. Terry then easily won the second leg and threw reasonable darts in the third but his opponent hit her double first dart to level the match score at 4-4.
Last up was Alan Smith. The 'As Been threw nice steady darts and turned what could have been a tense finish into a bit of an anti-climax. So we live to fight another day and still have a chance of second spot in the league. Next game is home to St Annes followed by the Knock Out Cup semi-final.
