RELIEF HOSTEL SUPERVISORS

waking cover and be responsible for the supervision of hostel
residents. They are also responsible for the security of premises
and contribute to the enforcement of Bail and Sentences within the
community, especially in relation to curfew. Other duties include
basic administration, answering telephone enquiries and domestic
tasks.
Permanent hostel supervisors work an eleven and
a half hour night shift and an eight-hour day shift, and on
average work 7 night shifts and 2 day shifts in every three-week
period. Hence a relief supervisor could work one or more of these
shifts in accordance with requirements and availability. Previous

working with people with drug and/or alcohol problems would be an
advantage.

running the hostel during their shift and responding to telephone
enquiries. Full double cover is provided and when sleeping-in a
waking night supervisor will be on duty. A relief assistant manger
could work either a day, an evening, a sleep-in, or a morning
shift in accordance to requirements and availability.
Assistant managers assist in the day to day
running of the hostel with an emphasis on individual keywork with
residents, and through the hostel programme. The post-holder will
also play a role within the referral process and enforcing bail
and statutory conditions for existing residents. Previous
experience of working with challenging groups, people with drug
and/or alcohol problems and in a residential setting would be an
advantage. A commitment to working with individuals who can
