Drug Rehabilitation Requirement of
the Community Order [DRR] |
Offenders whose offending is connected with
their use of heroin or cocaine [crack] will be required to attend
for treatment as part of their community order. This treatment is
delivered in partnership with CSSMS at 1 Spa Rd, Gloucester. The
treatment plan will reflect both the treatment need and the level
of intensity that is required to reduce offending. Offenders will
also be required to be tested twice a week for the first 16 weeks
of the treatment programme to provide evidence that they are not
using illicit drugs.

Drug Interventions programme [DIP] |
This programme targets two groups of people ie
those who have been arrested and are not currently in treatment] and
those released from imprisonment. The DIP enables these people to
access a package of treatment , including rapid prescribing of an
opiate substitute by CSSMS, and a package of integration services to
assist them into employment and other forms of stability.

Prolific & other priority offenders [PPO] |
Any PPO who has a drug treatment need is able to
access drug treatment via DIP or the DRR. This will be overseen by GPA
[via the court order/ licence following a prison sentence] and by the
DIP worker who is part of the PPO unit.

Addressing substance related
offending [ASRO] |
ASRO is a groundwork programme which can be a
requirement of the Community Order. It is usual for those who have a
DRR to attend ASRO, but it is also suitable for those who have a need
for a lower level of treatment and also those who are dependant on
alcohol.

Links with GDAS |
Through a partnership agreement GDAs provide
appointments at Gloucester and Cheltenham probation offices for any
client of the probation service to provide general guidance and help,
with the aim of enabling those who are not accessing treatment via one
of the routes above to seek help via the GDAS bases.
