The late Mr. Aubrey Gwinnett, among his other collections, left a number of bound volumes of local newspaper cuttings; these cover most of this century and are almost exclusively devoted to Alcester. The size of the volumes and the large number make it difficult to place them in the local collection at the library: they, have, therefore, been stored in the upstairs room and may be examined on request. They are in chronological order, so staff members would need to know which dates are required. There are also several smaller books of cuttings, mostly of photographs, donated by Mrs. Godfrey, and relating to the 1980s and 1990s. This collection is a primary source of information about Alcester in the 20th century and is therefore of great value to the local researcher: our debt to Aubrey Gwinnett and Mrs. Godfrey is a large one.
