People give names to their houses. This can be a 'Good Thing', for the names often remind us of the history or background of the locality. In Alcester we have 'Icknield House' which, although not precisely on the Roman Icknield Street, is in the approximate vicinity. Also we have Fernecumbe House, reminding us of the name of the Saxon hundred which took in our area before it joined up with Barlichway hundred. Arrow has School House, which was once the home of the local schoolmaster and Exhall has an Old Post Office Cottage, which speaks for itself.
