Alcester library
has recently acquired a microfilm reader. Our aim is to have all the years of the Alcester
Chronicle available. So far, we have the early years 1864-1887 and the most recent, 1995:
as money is available, we will commission further years.
Warwickshire
museum has a programme of events for adults called "in touch". On May 18th
1996 at 2.00 p.m. they are holding "an introduction to the County Record
Office", cost £1.00 adults, 50 pence concessions.
In June there is
a beer can jewellery workshop for children and families.
To book for either of these, telephone Johanna Crossley on 01926 412034.
While Frank Wain
was rector of Great Alne, he made copious notes on the history of Great Alne which he
later wrote into chapters. The library service has now re-typed it and printed copies; it
will shortly be available for loan in local libraries. I am sure many people will be
interested in reading it.
