BandU

BANDU stands for Batch files and Utilities, getting it's name from when I started playing with computers using various makes and versions of DOS and still is a directory (folder) on my hard drive. The BANDU web page will have Tips, Batch files and Utilities I have found useful, collected from all sorts of places.

Netscape Tips

(I have only tried these tips with Netscape version 2.0b (32 bit) but it should work with earlier versions)

To save a page for viewing later without using the "Save As" function, press the key when selecting the hyper link.
To isolate and view an image in a page, just click the right mouse button and you are given the option to "View this Image"

To save an image in a page, just click the right mouse button and you are given the option to "save this image as", ........so do it.

The World Wide Web via email.......how ?

It is possible to collect World Wide Web pages via email, and then view them in a Web browser, you may not need this now but you never now when you want information and only have email available. The example below is for the Yahoo FAQ. (For those not yet in the know FAQ is Frequently Asked questions and Yahoo is a brilliant place to find all sorts of information on the Internet.)

Create a one line email message such as - go http://www.yahoo.com/docs/info/faq.html
send email to webmail@www.ucc.ie
Save the emailed back message
View in you favourite Web browser.

WINHQ Win95 Shareware	Extensive collection of shareware for Windows 95.

FREEWARE PROGRAMS FOR WINDOWS
E-Mail Connection v2.5.03	E-mail program, simple to use and very straightforward.
Eudora	E-mail package
Free Agent	Easy to use and configure news reader for Windows
LView Pro v1	Graphic viewer. Use is limited to non-comercial, and private use only.
NEWS Xpres v1	News reader
Pegasus	E-mail package, the standard for freeware and gives some commercial packages a run for their money.
Slide Show	This lets you view your BMP, ICO, WMF and RLE files in a specified order and change them with a single click of the mouse. Perfect for presentations if you don't want to spend heaps on a presentation package!
Spell Checker	Spell checker for Microsoft Windows programs.
WS_IRC v2	Internet Relay Chat , (IRC) program. Many features and fairly easy to use. Includes the shareware and freeware versions. Make sure to use the file "wsircg.exe" for the freeware version.
