I am currently writing a history of the 1824 township of Richmond Tas. I,m trying to find if our Richmond was named for your city or elsewhere. I shll be contacting our nomenclature dept. here monday (its sat. here now) but as i found your website i had a look . It would probably be interesting for your visitors to know where all those otyer Richmonds are throughout the world . I believe we have around 8 in australia. when i make sure richmond tas. is named for your city i may send a list of the first settlers in our area to see if that is of interest. i know the first land grant was made to john rice (in the area) in 1811. Excellent site. I visited because I am reasearching my family history, and 3 generations were from Richmond (approximately 1800 - 1840).
If anyone has any knowledge about the name LIGHTFOOT, and Richmond, I would be pleased to hear from you.
Keep up the good work.

In fact I note my original message is still in the guest book and it is just about a year since I visited your site and a very good site it is too.

Have just visited the Richmond web site and found it very interesting indeed. Initially I was searching for Culloden Tower, a Landmark Property, in which my mother, brother John, sister-in-law Cathy and myself stayed for a weekend a few years ago. It was an incredible place to stay. John and Cathy had a marvellous bedroom looking down on the tree tops. Myself and mother were at the bottom of the tower. We also thoroughly enjoyed walking around Richmond and think the pictures on this site are very good indeed.
