ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT

The concept of energy efficient environmental buildings applies to all types of projects including residential, schools, hospitals, offices, factories, retailing environments etc. A co-ordinated approach is required covering all aspects of the survey, design and detailing processes. Decisions relating to construction techniques, detailing, material selections and implementation as well as ongoing facilities management and occupational aspects must be properly co-ordinated and discussed prior to resolution.

The client has an important part to play in this process in understanding what is to be achieved and the ongoing monitoring and building management that is required. These aspects must be considered and understood throughout the whole of the client management and staff structure. This policy is incorporated into our design philosophy.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

It is the policy of the Practice to give the greatest importance to the Health and Safety of its employees, and this is a key area of management responsibility. In the planning and management of the environmental conditions under which employees work, it is the duty of Management to do everything possible to prevent personal injuries to employees.
It is equally the duty of every employee to exercise personal responsibility and to do everything possible to prevent accidents and injury to himself or herself and to others. It is the duty of the employer to appoint a Safety Officer, to provide adequate escape routes for employees, to ensure all employees are aware of the procedure in case of fire, and of the siting of the external assembly point following any evacuation.
The diary in reception must be completed, showing where and when employees are when out of the office in the line of work. This should include precise time details, together with a requirement that when out on practice business employees telephone in if arrangements change. The office should be aware of every employee's whereabouts at all times, and the expected time of return. Employees are not to visit an empty building or unoccupied site alone.
