British Native Trees
and Shrubs

Jill Duchess of Hamilton and Penny Hart, both Fellows of the Linnean Society and former newspaper journalists in Fleet Street, started Flora for Fauna in 1994. This charity which encourages gardeners to grow British native plants for the benefit of wildlife has become a popular website at the Natural History Museum, the Postcode Plants Database www.nhm.ac.uk/science/projects/fff/. They exhibited five times at the Chelsea Flower Show. Their books include Scottish Plants for Scottish Gardens, English Plants for Your Garden and The Gardens of William Morris. Jill Duchess of Hamilton has also written many history books including Napoleon, the Empress & the Artist, Marengo, the Myth of Napoleon’s Horse and October Cassells are publishing her book Redouté’s Flowers.
