The college of physicians ran the first ever endocrinology MRCP on May 20th 2009 and the next one will be in June 2011.
A Specialty Certificate Examination is now a compulsory component of assessment for Certificate of
Completion of Training (CCT) for all UK trainees whose specialist training began in or after
August 2007, and is voluntary for those who started before this date. If you want to do this exam, you have to
apply between 29 March 2010 and 26 April 2010. The fee remains at Ł800.

A second sitting is FREE OF CHARGE until
2011, and you can use this offer if you fail your first sitting on 30th June 2010.

Eligibility
All UK and overseas trainees who have obtained MRCP(UK) are eligible to take an SCE (Specialty Certificate Examinations). UK trainees who are in a specialty training post but do not hold the MRCP(UK) are also eligible.
Preparation
The Third Hammersmith and Charing Cross course for the MRCP (Endo) will be on Monday 14th March 2011, in readiness for the June 2011 exam.
Format
The SCEs follow the MRCP(UK) examination format, comprising two 3-hour papers each containing 100 ‘best-of-five’ questions, and are conducted as computer-based tests (CBT). Each SCE is held once each year, in several centres throughout the UK and overseas.
Certificate
Candidates who pass the examination will be awarded a ‘Certificate’ in the specialty concerned. All those with a Specialty Certificate and MRCP(UK) who are recommended to PMETB by the JRCPTB for a CCT will be entitled to apply for the post-nominal ‘MRCP(Specialty)’.
