Think about your answers to these questions:
Do I have a vision or dream for my sports performance in the future?
Do I allow myself to daydream about how I would achieve my vision?
Have I taken an audit of all my skills and talents, including the ones that, at this stage, appear not to have any immediate relevance or use?
Do I convey a positive self-image to others? Is it consistent with what I believe inside about myself?
What are the things that I believe I am not good at? What is the evidence for this? Why do I choose to believe this?
Are the images I have of myself consistent with what I am going to achieve?
Establish a pattern whereby you set aside about 10 minutes a day to visualise yourself achieving sporting success. Ensure that you are associated, i.e. inside the event. Be clear about what you see, hear, feel, taste and smell. It may help to have suitable soft music in the background. Baroque or chamber music works effectively for some sportspeople.
