Sporting Excellence, Optimising Sports Performance Using NLP

My Second Book, Sporting Excellence, Optimising Sports Performance Using NLP, is available now.

The techniques used in this book are based on a combination of skills already used by many sportspeople, relevent techniques from training and business backgrounds and personal experience.

The book is not primarily about sports psychology, although it does fit broadly within that field and is based on a lot of sports psychology research.

Topics include:-

The book is aimed at both amateur and professional sports-people and is intended to be practical, informative and easy to use. One of the fun things about writing it was involving people who had achieved great success in sport to give quotes and interviews. This proved to be more difficult than it first appeared as the first problem was knowing how to track them down. Many hours were spent in libaries doing detective work. One learning point was that, almost without exception, contacts via agents proved to be negative, a polite but firm turndown.

Most success was achieved when contact was made directly e.g. by writing direct to a club. Even then not everyone said yes, but among those that did were, Sharon Davis, Geoff Capes, Phil de Glanville, Tony Adams, Stirling Moss, Sally Gunnell, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, David Lloyd and Alan Ball.

In addition I was able to carry out two interviews with people who each had their own individual approach to sport, Dean Richards and Kevin Keegan. They each gave me well over an hour of their time, which was absolutely fascinating and incredibly useful.

Review in Here's Health:
