A quick test
1. Roy is 78 yards away from the referee at Old Trafford and David is 65 yards away. If Roy can run at 21mph and David can run at 16mph, who will be sticking their vein-bulging forehead into the hapless whistler's face
first, assuming Roy does not stop to stamp on an opponent on his way?
2. If one minute of time is taken up in a game for substitutions and one minute for injuries, how much injury time will be added on by the referee if Man Utd are losing at home?
3. Ryan is a Welshman. Express, as a percentage, the number of internationals he has missed on a Wednesday evening compared to the miraculous recoveries he makes for the following Saturday.
4. Manchester United are one of the giants of world club football. How many more European Cup Finals have they appeared in than Steaua Bucharest? (For one extra mark; how many more than Reims?)
5. Phil has 30 international caps. If you take away the number of appearances when he was the only adult male in England who could just about kick the ball with his left foot, how many are left?
6. You are the referee at Old Trafford. How near to a visiting defender does a tumbling United forward have to be to earn a penalty if he goes down in the box? (Note; Round your answers down to the nearest 20 metres.)
7. Mark 'The Red' lives in Truro. How much does it cost for him and his two sons to travel to the Theatre of Silence every other weekend, including limited edition match-day programme, a few drinks and prawn sandwiches all
round? How much could he save per week if he watched his local team instead? (Note; round your answers down to the nearest thousand pounds).
8. Alex had a hotel room booked in Glasgow for the Champions League Final How much money will he lose when cancelling his reservation?

RULE CHANGE !
Players that are already in the team should maintain their value from the season before. This is coherent with the '5 from the previous team' rule and makes sense. It allows managers who uncovered pearls to hang on to them despite Torygraph inflation. I call for a vote on this innovation.

Come on! Post those final scores! We're going up and up, as both the HH's and the backsides leap into the top flight! It's a happy day in the sleepy Swiss bunker, I can tell you. By the way, Liverpool were SO lucky in the FACup that they'll probably be relegated next year just to balance things up a bit.

Well, another weekend and another haul of points for both the A*** and the HashHs.
It's just a matter of time before we celebrate a double promotion - unheard of in the history
of the Field. My God - what would Tottenham do for managerial quality like that?!
Instead they've plumped for some Bible bashing effeminate nondescript who will no doubt fade in and out
of his role as he always has. Up the 'Nal!

Dear All,
Pablo the webmaster has been having problems getting up to this farmhouse in North Wales because of the latest blight/disease/plague to hit rural areas.
This means he can't get to his database etc for the updating of the Field. But fear not! All will be resolved and all points will be counted.
In the meantime, you should all send Pablo a congratulatory mail - he is getting married to Carolyn later this year (personally I think this is a much more likely reason why the Field is not being updated ;-)
Cheers,
Boz

In a desperate measure to try and catch the Swiss, the left side announces that Teddy Sheringham has been brought in to bolster a meagre attack at the expense of the sadly out of form Alan Smith.
Knowing the way my transfers have gone this year, Smith will proceed to score hat tricks every week from now til May...

Paul,
I've tried mailing you at two addresses, but they keep bouncing back !!!
I'm off on hols to the USA on Friday 28th July...returning the day the
season starts, the 19th Aug.
Any hopes of me picking a squad???
I note that the Professional FF site has player prices up at
http://www.fantasyleague.co.uk/players/index-solo.asp
This was the site The Times values were the same as last season, with £1M
added for the strikers.
I know you use the Telegraph, but what if I pick a squad, and if it's
over....you can place 2-3 players in for the first weekend, to bring it to
the correct value?
I'll tell you my *certs* that can't be changed, and leave you to tinker with
the other 3-4 for the first weekend???

Sadly my Vets were relegated after a long heroic struggle. Look forward to :

2) Euro Champs - England to fall at semis again
3) Next Season and meistering Div 3
