Wells I Like

I'm hooked on wells. They're often really peaceful places and nearly always they make a deep impression on me.

I'm looking for other local wells, with the help of the Hampshire Treasures database at Hantsweb, but meanwhile, here are a few of the wells I've visited.

[st joseph's]
[silver well]
[holy well]
[well dressing]

It started when I photographed St. Joseph's Well at Glastonbury Abbey. Then, Later, I finally tracked down the Silver Well at Cerne Abbas. Of course, at the other end of the Cerne walk is the Holy Well at Holwell, quite a contrast. And then, I've put up a page on well-dressing.

Doreen Motherall from the United States corresponded with me about Cornish wells before her last visit to the UK. I see no point in documenting what she already has, so I commend you to the bit of her web page about wells for some more descriptions.

I remarked a while ago that maybe one day there'd be enough sites for a Sacred Wells Webring. Then Doreen pointed me at Katy Johnson's "Wiltshire Wells" site. this is better than a webring - although she personally concentrates on her local areas of interest, there are links to sites on UK and foreign wells, plus a discussion list and the online version of "Source", a wells journal.
