The Goat
Etching by Leon Underwood (b.1890 d.1975)
Dated 1922 Number 3 of 50
One of Leon Underwoods scarce etchings done between 1921 and 1922. There were no formal editions and the plates were stolen for scrap. Similarly there are no complete records of his output. He was a sculptor, wood engraver, linocutter, painter writer on art and thinker. He studied etching under Frank Short with little encouragement, moving on to wood engraving then linocutting in the 1920's. In the 1930's he moved again to lithography.
