This introductory page to the Gloucestershire Photo Library is an example of the format of the pages and the method of navigation and display. The scope of the coverage is so great that material is distributed across servers in the U.K. and Canada. Further pages are held on the BBC archives server.

The 'hub and spoke' principle is employed to access all the other pages or the gateways to them. If, for example, you are reading this in New Zealand and you have an ancestral interest in Horsley, you could go to the alphabeticized church list and access from there full visual information on the interior of the church and read many of the memorial wall tablets.

To see any aspect of the county's scenery, village architecture, flora and fauna, search through the other picture sets each of which, from Picture Set 2 onwards, contains scores of original colour photographs.

East of Cirencester, when you are Fairford bound
You pass through tranquil villages - there's beauty all around

First is Ampney Crucis; it nestles by the brook
Then Ampney Saint Peter which is worth a closer look

Beyond you'll see St. Mary's - the lonely 'Ivy Church'
appearing, with its bellcote, amongst willow, pine and birch

Its village long since gone, it is set back from the road
In splendid isolation; the grass around it, seldom mowed

Poulton will delight you - it's a Cotswold village fair
Overcome by so much beauty, you are bound to stop and stare

Now Meysey Hampton beckons - with its church up on a rise
in Gloucestershire - Oh Gloucestershire! - 'neath wide and sunlit skies

Unchanged by time, idyllic Meysey has cottages and farms,
a village green - complete with pump - and, of course, 'The Masons Arms'

This village pub is bedecked with flowers all the Summer through
Sit out - enjoy a 'Ploughman's Lunch' - 'neath those skies so azure blue

Sup the ale - look around - and see 'The Cottage on The Green'
once again with hanging baskets - in this place that's so serene

Maybe stroll down Strawberry Lane on the way to Furzey Hill
Or travel on to Fairford with its Market, Church and Mill

Whichever way you go in this green and pleasant land,
There is no doubt that you, my friend, are bound to find it grand !
