Your column on Friday the 25th of January,”Traffic flow shake-up could see signals scrapped” refers to a video shown of computer simulation models of six options considered by Town planners that will improve traffic passage at the north end of Ness Bridge, taking into consideration that the River Ness runs from West to East.
If a thing is not broken why mend it. The planners’ models show that traffic is running quite smoothly the way it does, which with 5 vehicles each side of Glenurquhart Road passing per minute during a one hour only daily peak periods, that surely can be classed as a plus for Inverness.
No mention of a roundabout is made in planning video or leaflets...
There is no need for the one way streets in question to be introduced when two strategically placed roundabouts are created, that the Ness Walk gets widened in front of the two principal hotels, and a road bridge built from Bught Road over the river to link up with Island Bank and Dores roads, making it easier access for the people coming from Lochardil area preventing them coming into town to visit the £23m Eden Court Theatre, and from those potentials coming from ASDA further on in time.
I can’t imagine turning the wide boulevard Little Kenneth Street into a one way race track – an ideal candidate for Brands Hatch.
Why is it that I never here about Inverness ice dance, hockey, and curling skating?
The planner’s new plans will truly sustain it (the silence) - the above will amend that phenomenon.
