Nov 1997 letter
The extent how England discriminates against its true musical culture - Traditional jazz.

The Editor, The Croydon Advertiser, South Croydon, Surrey, England
Monday the 17th August 1998
Dear Editor

I'm surprised that this country still needs a Race Board, or in effect, a Commission for Racial Equality, and I therefore cannot quite see what justifies the aims of Errol Harry (letters 14 Aug) in wanting to maintain a race council, bloating itself out in Croydon in fermentation of Britain with all the costs and upsets that that may entail.

The 'ethnic-voice' in England is exceptionally strong, and has been so for many years, without the need for every town in the country to have one, such as is pleaded for by Errol Harry, to help that 'ethnic-voice' get heard ever more louder and clearer to exasperation point.

Such an 'ethnic-voice' now runs nearly every cornershop throughout the land, which in effect, can demand and get with the help of the whimpering nouveau British/English ninnies, a stretch of land in middle England to call its own, so that it may if need, conduct its own affairs within it - New-seekersland.

It becomes all the more apparent that the vast £-millions given over by goverment to implement suchlike Errol Harry capricious ideas and a main Race Board under the chairmanship of a Sir, with no direct support given over to England's true musical culture - Traditional jazz since WWII, that sir, is a national disgrace : Scrap them ! Yours sincerely, Ian King, East Croydon, Surrey CR0 6QD
