Vroom, Vroom, Vroom.
Having been positioned to ride the early British Matchless machines, a look at the American period Army Harley-Davidson on show as one entered the exhibition, made me gasp, and not too proud to say, that it really looked comfortable in comparison, all those years ago.
There was a shinning replica of the Captain America bike driven by Peter Fonda in the film, Easy Rider. Among the others, each of which was, and still is, a classic of right, are the the red Ferrari bike created by Arlen Ness of San Leandro, California; the John Deere 1574 FXST 1600cc model by Custom Ranch, Germany, the name first becoming familiar to me on the combine harvester; a Harley Trike Evo of gigantic proportions owner by Danny Franssen of Belgium; Bob Dron's FLSTC Roadster Royale and not least, the 1993 Suttle Ultra Classic Electra Glide, with scores of bulbs all over it which the visitor was able to light up at the flick of a switch great.
I expect that even today, January 1999, they are still in the hands of those same owners.
