Isocom Unveils NEW
LCC optocouplers packages

LCC PACKAGE PICTURE
Isocom is globally acknowledged as a manufacturer of Optoelectronic products and it has just increased its excellent product range to encompass a new group of smaller LCC packages.
These devices, recognised by the standard Isocom 'CSM' prefix, are from 3mm square up to the standard LCC sizes with which you will be familiar (6.2mm x 4.3mm).
These devices are yet another step away from the conventional optocoupler style which the market has accepted for so long. Isocom's announcement comes also with the knowledge that soon another manufacturer will be rendering their LCC devices obsolete.
Isocom's devices will all complete the rigarous testing which all of our products must undergo and the standards offered will be the same, ranging from commercial through to the MIL spec L2 class.

We are also offering an excellent custom design service for companies who want that 'personal' touch to their products. What point is there designing your circuit around other peoples products? At Isocom, we can offer you the option of custom specification. Design limitations are a thing of the past! For more information, please email us from our contact page located below.

Isocom Announces Three Small Outline High Reliability Surface Mount Optocouplers

CH300CH350CH390
Isocom Ltd, Europes only manufacturer of high reliability optocouplers has announced three new optocoupler devices, designed for use in both commercial and military hybrid assembly applications.
Called the CH300, the CH350 and the CH390 and offering considerable space saving advantages over dual-in-line optocouplers, they are housed in hermetically sealed ceramic packages. Electrical contact is made by wire bonding to gold thick film contacts on the perimeter of the devices. All devices offer an input to output isolation voltage of 1000 DC and are guaranteed to perform within a temperature range of -55°C to 125°C which makes them ideal for military and other ruggedised applications in the hybrid industry.
The CH300 comprises a high radiance light emitting diode and a phototransistor in a package measuring 3mm by 3.5mm by 1.4mm. It has a minimum current transfer ratio of 50% at 25°C. The input diode has an operating current as low as 1.0mA and a forward voltage of 1.5V. For a collector-emitter voltage of 5V and a forward current of 1mA, the device has a turn-on and turn-off time of 25µs.
The CH350 is a single inverting optically coupled logic gate and consists of a high radiance light emitting diode and a high gain integrated photodetector. It measures 3.8mm by 4.5mm and 1.7mm high. The input diode has a typical forward voltage of 1.5V, at its specified forward current of 13mA. The output detector requires a supply voltage of 5V and produces an output current of 10mA. The maximum package power dissipation is 150mW. The CH350 offers a minimum current transfer ratio of 100% and is capable of operating at 5Mbits per second. It has a maximum high level supply current of 15mA and a maximum low level supply current of 19mA, for a supply voltage of 5.5V.
The CH390 is a dual optocoupler with the same features and specifications as the CH350. All devices are manufactured at Isocom Ltd's UK factory, which is both CECC and BS9000 approved. All devices undergo rigourous 100% testing and in addition various high reliability test options are offered. The company is committed to stringent quality, reliability and inspection standards.

Power PhotoMOS Relays

Isocom have announced a new series of PHOTOMOS relays which are for Telecom applications. They consist of optically coupled relays and a bi-directional input optocoupler. They are packaged in DIL or surface mount packages.
They are ideal for hookswitch and pulse-dial switching as an optocoupler is used for ring-detection and loop current sensing. There is a minimum CTR of 30% with an isolation voltage of 3750 Vrms for each circuit.
The relays have a very low closed circuit offset voltage with a stable turn-on resistance which ensures control for the signal levels above 10µV. The PHOTOMOS RELAYS are available in AC and/or DC models with a low leakage current of less than 10nA at a load of 400V. The response of the PHOTOMOS Relays is typically 0.1ms and input signals of 0.5mA LED current would be ideal for a low battery operation of equipment and in multi-relay applications.
The PHOTOMOS relays are available for the entire range of telecom applications with isolation voltages of up to 5000Vac and a continuous load current of 100mA up to 4A. The Surface Mount relays are ideal for low profile equipment such as PCMCIA modem cards. Viewable online: IST450

Isocom's New PhotoMOS Relays

Isocom have extended their range of Optocouplers to cover PhotoMOS relays. The extent to which these devices can be used covers numerous applications.

These applications include:

Medical Applications - including electrocardiographs and X-Ray CT Scanners as the PhotoMOS relays can accurately transfer low-level signals

Security Applications - as input interfaces for system sensors and as output interfaces for alarms

QA Equipment - can also benefit from the usage of PhotoMOS relays as they can be used with a sensor control unit.

Communications Equipment - in particular, satellite communications, whose simple circuits and simultaneous message transferring are perfectly suited to the PhotoMOS; as they can be arranged in parallel and a variety of power circuits can be designed with them

There are various problems which can be overcome by using the new devices. Such as:

(a) If you require a snubber circuit with a triac or solid state relay but are concerned about the AC leakage. This is bypassed by using a PhotoMOS instead and then there is no reason for the snubber circuit. The only guarantee being that the relay is used within the maximum ratings. Leakage current no longer hinders you and cost and reliability become advantages.

also:

(b) If you need a device to be used for AC control that's resistant to ambient temperature changes and signal noise. This is handled by a PhotoMOS relay which does not use a self trigger mechanism used in SCR's, therefore avoiding the accidental switching on of the device.
