Hits 140

Kabut appears as a huge, bloated man whose flesh is discoloured and purple. He is about 9 feet tall and almost aswide, with a huge belly and great thick arms that can tear a man in half. He enjoys eating creatures with souls because he fancies that if he eats enough he might be able to use them to reverse the aging and decay that is happening to his body. In fact the real reason is that his flesh is suffering from removal of certain vital trace elements from his diet; it is only his fierce will that is keeping it from disintegrating totally.

He can, under controlled conditions, allow his body to disintegrate into mist which he then moves around by mental force. This effort costs him greatly and he must make a difficult spirit check each time to pull himself back into corporeal form- use a random draw. If he fails, he must wait at least a day before trying again. If he gets a mishap, he is gone for all time. He only uses this in extremis but it has saved him from death several times.

He can cause a dense mist to rise around him, requiring everyone to make a difficult perception check to be able to see well enough to move or attack; if that fails all foes actions are a step more difficult.

He can spew out corrupting vapours from his belly which cause people to become very confused and disorientated- make an average endurance vs strength or be overome by the vapours, which have the effect of slowing the character- their foe gets two counterattacs per hero attack. The cloud affects anyone in a 10 foot cone of Kabut’s mouth; he can only do it twice per day.

He has some sorcerous abilities with 100 spell points in the spheres of illusion, optic lumens and dominion, but he is restricted in his ability in this world and can only ever deliver spells with an effect of three points maximum to creatures of this world. That limitation does not apply to other demons, which is one of the reasons he is thier king. He makes extensive use of optica lumens to spy on his courtiers and root out plots against him.

His treasury includes a vast haul accumulated over the years, and also some magical items.

Berasap, demon lord of Tanda Tangan, demon of smoke

Co 16 Int 9 Dmg +10 (fire arrows) or +12 (flaming sword)

Ph 30 Es 9 Def -10

Hits 120

Berasap appears as a six-armed lithe giant (about 9 foot tall, but slim and elegant) with charcoal grey skin. Smoke continuously pours from his mouth (he cannot stop it from so doing). He is a very fleet runner, able to run all day at speeds of 30 miles per hour and sprint at closer to 60 mph. He can run on the most tenuous surface, inclusing water (which will boil as he passes) and treetops (which may catch fire). In combat he may choose to immolate himself; each attacker must make a difficult end check or take 10 points of fire damage from the flames.

He is a superlative archer and can fire two bows at once and thus gets two attacks per round. His fifth and sixth hands bear a flaming sword and a golden shield. The shield has the magical property of healing its wielder once per day but the wielder must bind the shield to him by regular blood sacrifice and it will not heal any other than its bound wearer. It is an item of religious significance amongst the demons and the blood sacrifices go to Berasap’s mysterious patron goddess (who is like Kali).

Berasap is also a bloodthirty king, but his rule is principally religious. He believes he has been sent to this world to gather blood and souls for his goddess (who cannot be named aloud- her secret name is Vrucina the bloodfire).

Berasap is not sorcerously gifted but does have excellent resistance and great spirit. He can call on his goddess but he knows that if he does she will take him as well and he fears this so he will only do it if it appears he is to die in this world. Vrucina will answer him.

His archery is incredible and his huge bows require a strength of 9 to use; the arrows catch flame as they leave the bow. His range with them is about a mile. Others may use his bows and the arrows will flame but they must be specially made because they are much longer than usual and the flights must be carefully treated to avoid being consumed by the flames before the arrow has found its target.

Kabut and Berasap’s demon courtiers

Each demon courtier shares a certain part of his nature with a beast. That bestial nature will always triumph in the end, no matter what. The courtiers that outsiders are most likely to meet are hunters, usually pack animals with a dominance heriarchy, like Orthos. They can be thought of as a pack of dogs or wolves: cunning and dangerous, also organised, but still riven by dominance battles.

Demons come from another world and cannot breed here. On the other hand, they have developed forms of sorcery which work on the physical world albeit on a local scale by very powerful illusions. These thigs cannot directly affect the minds or bodies of other but cause effects on their physical surrounding which have a knock-on effect.

Demons in their home world reincarnate, but their souls are torn from their own wheel of reincarnation when they make the transition to this world. Some part of their soul is stranded in the gate between worlds and so they are always less here than they were. Despite that they are still powerful. Some of them hope to return home somehow, and some have theorised that if slain here they will return to their home wheel of reincarnation, but it seems just as likely tht they will be lost from their wheel forever so most try to avoid death quite strenuously. Many believe that they need to conquer their bestial nature before being readmitted to their wheel and hence they try to imitate civilizedbehaviours. However, the beast always lurks just beneath the surface. The ones in the Hutan Mata are especially far gone in decadence because they have no contact with other peoples and also they know that the well of demons is closed to them and they don’t know of any other ways home. Most are secretly haunted by the blackest despair.

Each demon has his "social" face ad his "bestial" face. The social face is typically a darkish skinned but handsome version of whatever racial type is dominant in the group they meet. They do not blink, nor do they sweat, and often they hide a bestial feature like long canines, three-clawed hand, scaled body, poison ducts, or similar.

The bestial face is much more animalistic, and usually goes with a powerful Yilani/Rakhokalia style lizardman body. The bestial form is usually much more powerful physicaly but is weaker mentally and magically for the demon has lost his intellect into his bestial nature and will not be quick-witted in this form.

The stats below are for a fairly typical example.

Minor demons are usually clearly bestial in nature, with triceratops heads being common. They often walk on all fours and are not very intelligent although quite strong and well-armoured.

Most have a single special ability, some minor illusion or the ability to issue a single command. Most are base and driven by purely physical lusts for food, sex, gold, etc.. and will be distracted in battle if their object of lust happens to be around.
