What qualities do I need to become a foster carer?
This may surprise you, but you're probably more qualified to be a foster carer than you realise.
Don't believe us? Then just consider the following questions:
- Would you say you were a good listener?
- Are you resilient? Do you bounce if life events knock you back?
- Are you able to appreciate that a child who has been neglected or abused may say some hurtful things?
- Can you diffuse situations with humour or make a child's worries disappear with a reassuring hug?
If any of these qualities remind you of you and if you're down-to-earth with a stable home life and have a spare room, you could provide the foundations on which a child can rebuild their life.
