Petite Grange Du Vaulot

Normandy - Cherbourg Peninsular
NO 17

An 18th century "longere" farmhouse and converted barn, situated in beautiful countryside only half an hour south of Cherbourg. This house is placed on a quiet lane in a small hamlet just outside the pretty market town of Bricquebec, which is dominated by the remains of its large medieval castle. On Monday the town buzzes with its lively market selling an array of wonderfully fresh local produce.

There are organised trips round the castle walls in July and August and a fascinating local museum: the local abbey sells a good selection of home-made produce including its famous Trappe cheese. Other local facilities include fishing, golf and easy accessibility to the coast, Normandy landing beaches, pretty fishing villages and the great gothic cathedrals of Coutance and Bayeux - all encompassed by the simple delights of miles of beautiful undulating countryside and quiet roads.

The property has been sympathetically restored and was the original farmhouse of Hameau le Vaulot and we know it is at least 200 years old (research is not yet complete).

If you decide that you do not want to bring or hire a car your hosts can collect you from the ferry port and act as personal chauffeurs (price negotiable according to your needs). This is all part of the better-than-expected level of hospitality here.
Accommodations:  There are four attractive guest bedrooms decorated with charm and dressed with pretty bed linen:

The Wedgewood and Gemini Suite has a double bedroom with a kingsize bed plus another bedroom with two single beds sharing a full bathroom with spa bath and shower over.

The Sable room has a king size double bed and en-suite shower room.

The Rose room has a double bed and private bathroom.

All of the rooms have views of the countryside and are provided with facilities to make tea or coffee.

There are two salons which are at your disposal: a large library/sitting room for quiet relaxation, and a smaller salon with log burning stove for those chilly out-of-season evenings when warmth, a good book and a glass of wine are the order of the day. Your hosts offer their guests a home from home feel and are happy to accommodate people’s diverse requirements.

The grounds of La Petite Grange are all to the front, and include private car parking, a pleasant decked area where you may sit, relax and eat alfresco, and a pretty cottage garden.

Continental breakfast is included in the basic tariff and dinner is available by prior arrangement with your English speaking hosts - all dietary needs can be catered for. There is a good choice of local restaurants including an excellent one inside the old castle keep at Bricquebec 1.5km distance - your hosts are very happy to advise and to make reservations for you.

Children welcome.
