A magnificent maison de maitre, a manor house built originally for a gentleman farmer in the 19th century. Extensive walled gardens and private grounds surround the old house, guaranteeing the perfect tranquility of the setting: in summer months guests are also invited to enjoy the large swimming pool. Situated in an ideal location for explorations of the Loire Valley's great chateaux - Fontevraud Abbey where some of the the Plantagenet kings of England and Normandy are buried, the great castles of Chinon (less than 10 minutes drive), Azay le Rideau, Rigny Ussé, Langeais, Saumur, Amboise, Cheverny, Chambord, Chenonceaux and Blois. Needless to say this is right in the epicentre of some of the greatest vineyards of the Loire - Saumur, Chinon and Bourgueil. Our view: more expensive than some of our properties but worth the extra cost. The rooms are spacious and beautiful.

Accommodations: There are five comfortable bedrooms, each with private en-suite bathroom. 1. "Le Pressoir" has been created in the old wine press, it has a canopy double bed and lounge space within its limestone walls, exposed oak beams and polished floors.  2. "La Treille" is a large double room with a canopy bed in an alcove and extensive  tiled lounge area. 3. "Le Fruitier" is a suite created in the old fruit store, there is a double bedroom plus a separate lounge where there is also an additional single bed - can be made suitable for a family of up to 4 - independent outside entrance. One note - the cieling beams are quite low - so if you are tall, be prepared to duck. 4 & 5. Chambres "Rose" and "Bleue": spacious double rooms at the top of the house, each with open plan bathroom and separate toilet. A large living room with open fire, library, piano and games table is at your disposal.

Other Details: Your hosts speak good English. As well as the continental breakfast which is included in the basic tariff, your hosts offer an evening meal (25 euros paid for locally). Please advise if you wish to dine with them on the night of your arrival. Private off road car parking. Open all year.
