Neilson Kaufman has written again with this 'where are they now ? update

Hi Bob

How ya keeping... all the best for 2003

Just to keep you up to date. The following players from the 60s are alive and well from the 60s 70s here in South Africa

Eddie Lewis (Played English football 1952-63) the former Manu Untd, West Ham and Orient player coaching and a TV commentator

George Eastham (
Stoke City) Stoke and England living in Cape Town

Alec Forbes (Played English football 1946-57) Sheff Utd, Arsenal Orient and Fulham and Scottish international living in Rosebank, Johannesburg. Coaching school children

Ron Crisp former Watford and was with O's in March 1969 on trial, signed a contract and when he obtained an offer from Durban United, Orient made him pay £250-00 to buy himself our of his trial contract. He is still living in Durban and is involved in the Office Equipment Industry and involved in the SA Footballers Assoc.

I' m told the former Spurs goalie Melia Aleksic is back in SA

With regards my book on all O's first players 1904-2002. It was published by Tempus Publishing in Aug 2002, all 544 pages.

I' m now doing a book on Manager, Coaches and WW2 Players, an update of the 2002 book, always new info coming in and profiles on trial players and those who never made it with Orient over the years.

Did you know that the following all had trials with Orient as schoolboys...?

David Beckham, Teddy Sherringham, Lua Lua, Mike Stockwell (youth player) and Bobby Zamora.

Keep well and regards to your all your readers

I have a friend, Mick Fazackerley, who used to be in the Preston NE reserves in the 70's. He s  keen to find out where David Hughes (Preston North End) is now. All he knows is that he is somewhere in Scotland. Have you any idea how to find out how to contact him?

Hi Bob, Please could you tell me the whereabouts of Neil Ramsbottom (goalkeeper) ex Bury FC, ex Blackpool FC, ex Coventry City FC, ex Plymouth Argyle FC, and I think ex Blackburn Rovers FC ......ta Pete.

Neil began the 1970-71 season as a Bury player, which is where I've placed him on the site. He moved to Blackpool in February 1971, and played the rest of the season for them. A full list of teams is Bury, Blackpool, Crewe Alexandria (on loan), Coventry City, Sheffield Wednesday, Plymouth Argyle, Blackburn Rovers, Miami (USA), Sheffield United, Bradford City, and Bournemouth.
