February 2001

Jim Ross has been busy lately and sent me three new 'where are they now ?' features. (Words for Ian Ure and David Harvey written by the original source)

Bobby Clark (Aberdeen)

Bobby Clark

Bobby Clark

The great Scottish goalkeeper Bobby Clark quits as coach of Stanford University coach to move to South Bend Indiana to become head coach of the University of Notre Dame.

Ian Ure (Manchester United)

Ian Ure

These days, Ian Ure doesn't get too caught up in the Scottish game, partly because of the number of very average foreign players in the game. Now 60, he's employed as a social worker at Low Moss Prison, having completed a course at Jordanhill in 1980 and having done a stint at Barlinnie in 1983 (work-related, of course). But if Ure isn't involved in the game now, he is one defender who has still to keep an eye on offenders, for Low Moss is officially Scotland's most violent prison. It's OK, centre-forwards, you're safe now.

David Harvey (Leeds United squad)

David Harvey

David Harvey

Now living in a big farmhouse in Sanday, Orkney, David is the local postman and spends his time working on his ten-acre farm. Quite an improvement then from his training matches at Leeds when, after a wincing clash with Norman Hunter or Jackie Charlton, he only had two "achers". That's progress for you. "Oh, David, do you listen to On and Off The Ball?" "Aye, I never miss it. In fact, sometimes I have to stop the car."
