Eddie
Colquhoun
Anyone who
has visited Yahoo! Clubs
sixtiesandseventiessoccer will know there has
been an ongoing debate about how to say Eddie
Colquhoun's name.
This
isn't 'Ask the Audiance' on 'Who Wants to be a
Millionaire?', I just want to know
how YOU pronounce it.
Once
we have a clear winner, we'll try to inform Eddie of how
the public expect him to
pronounce his name in future.
Thanks
to Kåre B. for the original query.

Bookings: have they gone to far
???
In light of the
Championship-form quashing levels of bookings handed out
to Leeds United
and Arsenal this season this site asks: Bookings: have they gone
to far ???
Read the arguments below and decide ...
Point of
View One:
Let's
face it modern footballers are all namby pamby
softies, who
believe 'tackle' is a fishing term. Referees use
their red and yellow
cards like so much confetti. It's killing the game.
I remember when a goalkeeper with the ball could be
barged into the
net and the goal was given; players played on with
broken necks
beacuse there were no substitutes; and a sending offs
were so rare, it
really meant something.
If a player was booked or sent off the disgrace
stayed with a player for
the rest of his career - presuming he wasn't banned
for life because of
it. That's how it should be still !!!!!
Point of
View Two:
The
disgraceful behaviour of players - especially the
British - in the
Seventies was the cause of violence off the pitches
due to the
appauling example they gave to the fans.
Footballers careers were ended prematurely because of
the '18-rated'
tackling that players were allowed to get away with.
And injuries were
ignored by trainers meaning that many old footballers
now suffer
terrible arthritis as a result.
Football is a family game, and footballers need to
set an example to
the youth of today. All violence or threat of
violence by any player
should be stamped out harshly. The football
authorities are too soft in
their punishments, red and yellow cards need to be
shown more often !!!!!!
