About Bob 70-71

Richard Whitehead

For several years now, on almost every Saturday in the sports section of 'The Times', Richard Whitehead has run a football history feature based around an old football photograph.

Presently it is called The Day It Happened and features a fascinating look at a previous Saturday, reviewing the games and showing the Division One table of the day.

Previously, Richard's features had a photograph of famous footballers from the past shown with a very brief career profile and the answer to the question, 'where are they now?'

Initially called Picture Points, the series then became Photographic Memory. Here's some of the highlights of these series.

Now Richard's article no longer has the players' profiles, but a new feature in the back of the Sunday Times sports section called Caught In Time (Click to see more) has picked up the mantel where Richard has left off. The pictures in this feature are not necessarily of football teams.
