watch how the crow
makes effortless work
of settling on an
evergreen branch
cawing black king of the copse
watch how the starlings
gather on twigs
that grow on bald trunks
of trees looking dead
with the winter
swarm starlings circle in the sky
watch how the wind
batters the trees
that cower and strain
and watch how the grey
envelops the day
and makes drab the colours of nature
watch eye reflect on the day
