Hi,
Great site, 1971 holds a lot of memories
for me - met my wife on day
Arsenal won the Double. Great to find a
site that traces the occasions
and players for that era. (By the way
still have 2 programmes for the
FA Cup Final that year) |

Hi my
name is Lisa Lutton and i am the eldest
daughter of ex wolves
player Bertie Lutton, We now live in
Australia and let me say that my
dad was the greatest in his time. He's
kept all his newspaper clippings
of his time with the wolves and Northern
Ireland and is very proud of
his caps, He keeps them on his pillows
when he makes his bed.. I'm a
bit dissapointed that there is not alot
of information on him cos he
was a great player.. |

Bob -
I've just come across the site whilst
searching for the 1970 West
Ham goalkeeper Peter Grotier.
The early '70's was my supporting heyday,
I had all the football cards,
subbuteo, and used to occasionally get to
see West Ham at a packed
Upton Park. I can remember seeing Man U
with George Best / Charlton /
Law etc lose 2-1 in front of 38,507 in
April '71 - awesome.
Top marks for a top site mate ! |

Bloody
hell, carlo sartori-I put his name in as
a flyer -&- got your web
site, what a pleasanr surprise. My first
game as a 13 year old at Old
Trafford-I actually can't remember if
sartrori played-but I came to
worship him after his busy displays
against Leeds in those FA Semi Cup
finals against bloody Leeds. When United
got beat it was the time I
cried uncontrollably-I lost 7 shillings I
didn't have. Sartori was no
Best, but, nor was I. I thought of the
little ginger terrier as a
talisman -&- held him in great
regard. I too tried to be a busy little
bastard on the pitch-it didn't get me
into the school team but years of
racing round the red squirrel on heat got
me picked for various awful
Sunday League Teams until my retirement
from 11 a side last season.
That boy Sartori's got a lot to answer
for, my knees are fucked but I
still think of his industry momentarily
taking the limelight from his
more illustrious team mates. Keep it up
lads, I'm gonna have a quick
trwl round your pages. D |

Hi Bob
As an Arsenal fan, it's a shame that the
first season I can remember,
as an eight year old, was the 71/72
season, the first cup final being
the Leeds 1-0 (clarke)
Had I been paying attention a year or two
earlier, as you obviously
were, then I would have enjoyed the 70
world cup and Arsenal's double
winning season before several years of
(Arsenal)mediocrity.
Now living in Kuwait, I came across a
player of 70/71 today, none other
than Emlyn Hughes (Liverpool, England,
Question of Sport)- poolside at
the hotel were I am a member. God knows
what he was doing in kuwait. I
didn't speak to him but I ended up coming
across your site in a bout of
70's football surfing nostalgia!
A great web site. |

Fantastic site. I grew up in Cairns in
Australia and became a huge Leeds
fan as a kid in the 1970s - I can
remember sitting up all night
listening to the FA Cup Final broadcasts
on the radio and being totally
inconsolable over Sunderland's win in
1973. I was a major Allan Clarke
fan and wonder if anyone knows of an
address to write to Allan Clarke -
I've had a copy of his book Goals Are My

and I'd like to see if he'd sign it for
me if I sent it to him. |

I
watched Scots international left winger
Billy Liddell at Liverpool
making the Kop sway alarmingly when he
blasted one towards the goal.
Across the park was Everton, with
T.G.Jones perhaps the greatest
footballer I have ever seen (and I
watched John Charles, Ivor Allchurch,
Travor Ford, Billy Hughes (Chelsea and
Wales and G.B.) Stanley Matthews,
Tommy Lawton et al.How many remember
Bartram in goal for Charlton in the
first FA final after the war, when they
lost to Derby County? I had
already emigrated when Georgie Best came
along, but remember Tom Finney
and Len Shackleton. Some great games and
huge crowds in those days. All
going to the games on buses and trains.
No one had cars. Peter.

Hi Bob
- great site - I also have a fascination
with 70/71, but not
quite as obsessive as yours!!! My
interest comes not from the FKS book,
which I never had, but from the
A-&-BC gum cards, which I had at the
time.
In my opinion, the A-&-BC cards are
far superior - better pictures, plus
a small biog on each player. Are you
aware of this set? If I had a
scanner, I'd send you some samples.
Also, have you seen this site:
http://www.geocities.com/ynig00/football_cards/fks71/000_index.htm
-
this shows every card from your set by
team. Seriously, these pictures
don't rate against the A-&-BC cards.
There are only 255 cards in the
A-&-BC set - including Ray Kennedy,
Denis
Law, Trevor Brooking, Joe Kinnear; but
missing some big names from the
FKS set, and not including any
Huddersfield players! Let me know if you
want a list - I know all apart from about
10.
Keep up the good work! |

Spot
on article for Blackpool FC. I could name
that team with my eyes
shut ( or open ). After seeing the Pool
drop to bottom ( equal ) of the
Football League all that's left is the
memmory of the early 70's.
Anglo-Italian cup win, Micky Walsh's Goal
of the Season on Motd, yes
and the 3-4 home defeat against Chelsea
when we were 3-1 up.
Perhaps we'll win the Conference title
next season. |

Great
site. Bestie is an all time hero of mine.
He played alongside my
dad, Willie Irvine, for Northern Ireland
in the sixties and has met up
with him again at Sportsmans dinners over
the last couple of years. My
dad still says Bestie claimed an NI goal
that was rightfully his when
they were playing together!! |

Great
to see some-one dedicate a web site to
players of years past. Of
course it's always dubious from an old
time Leeds supporter!!!!(Quite
ironic coming from a life-long Chelsea
supporter!!)
Keep up the excellent work -&- will
be certainly interested if you do
other years. Keep me informed if you do.

Amazing site Bob, I still have my copy of
the Soccer Stars and Gala
Collection, so your not the only sicko. I
also have Football stars
Parade 70-71 which is great and a copy of
the Shoot quiz book for that
era and more. As for me I'm sorry it was
Chelsea and Peter Osgood/
Peter Bonetti at that time. My sadest
moment seeing Gorden Banks
beaten by a Penalty by Charlie George
when stoke lost to Arsenal in the
FA cup semi '71. My best moment the
famous David Webb goal. I used to
hate Leeds back then. The irony is now I
love to watch Leeds to see
Harry play. Nice trip down memory lane.
PS Is your copy of the Gala Collection
complete? |

I
suppose that the late '60s and the early
70's was a golden era of
sorts. When I think back to momentous,
exciting games that I used to
watch from the South Paddock it might be
a little rose tinted, but no-
one can take away the memory of the day
we beat Sunderland with that
Mickey Walsh goal.

site. I would personally go

The
thing I admire most about this site is
that Bob, a Leeds fan, still
manages to give such attention to the
other clubs of the 70/71
season. It's a vast site full of hidden
gems for supporters of any club
and that makes it a worthwhile visit for
anyone.Keep up the excellent
work Bob ! |

I was there in the sixties and seventies
before migrating to
Australia. I'm a member of the Australian
branch of the supporters
club and helped register the club with
Eric Carlisle when I was
over in '96.
If you're reading this Mick "a job
well done,"
I was a season ticket holder in '68 after
serving an apprenticeship
on the Kop and Lowfield road stand. In
'69 I graduated to the
Geldered end. Home and away I was there
seeing a total of 50 games
'69/70 all home games (28) and 21 away.
To say that King Billy was
the greatest ever would be the
understatement of the millennium.
To all you fellow whites out there:- Keep
the faith. |

Hello
Bob, well nice to see you - don't tell
Karen about the beard.
Is there nothing on Aspergers Syndrome
anywhere (?) - or are they
keeping all that to themselves - I assume
you still hoard 'stuff' - I
nearly wrote down a train number on
Saturday but I'd seen that one
before. More seriously, it's good to
finally read your poetry - you
never did tell me what you were writing.
As for music - well I vowed to
never ever go to a concert again after
The Mission split - but got
given a ticket to see Genesis (which
wasn't nearly as boring as some may
suggest) - so now I vow never ever to BUY
a ticket for a concert ever
again. Keep in touch. |

What a
great team Leeds were in the late 60's
and early 70's, as a
Chelsea supporter at the time nothing
gave me greater pleasure than the
FA Cup win. I used to play Subbuteo with
my friend Graham Baker who was
a Leeds fan and he would thrash me every
time to make up for it, it
also used to annoy him that I could never
remember Leed's nickname,
still can't. Fortunately I saw the error
of my ways in the early 70's
and became and still am an avid fan of my
home team, Luton Town.
