GLAN, joined Scunthorpe on loan from Leeds United in August 1976 and made 27 Fourth Division appearances while at the Old Show Ground, and was picked twice for Wales Under 21's during his loan spell from Leeds.

He also made a further appearance for Wales Under 23's whilst at Leeds, against Scotland in 1976, and 10 Welsh Youth International appearances, and played in numerous practice matches.

He made his one and only League game for Leeds United, in a home win against Ipswich Town in April 1975, at the age of 19. This was not Glan's first, first team game though as he came off the substitutes bench to keep goal at the age of seventeen and a half, in the UEFA Cup tie against Hibernian in November 1973, Leeds winning on penalties. Glan was also an unused substitute for the 1975 European Cup Final against Bayern Munich.

His first full first team appearance for the Iron was against Mansfield away in the League Cup 14th August 1976, making his League debut a week later at home against Rochdale his last appearance in the Iron's colours came at home to Southend 5th March 1977. He kept eight cleansheets in his 27 league games for the Iron, whilst on loan in nearly seven months the longest loan signing at the time.

He was transferred to Chesterfield in December 1977 for £10,000, and made 63 appearances for them, before John Toshack signed him for Swansea City for £50,000 in September 1979, and played in goal during their meteoric rise from the Fourth Division to the First Division. He played 21 league games for Swansea before being displaced by Dave Stewart and subsequently played non-league football for Oxford City, Scarborough, and Bangor City.

While at Bangor City Glan made a Wembley appearance in the F.A.Trophy Final in 1983/84 drawing 1-1 against Northwich Victoria, before losing in the reply at Stoke 2-1, then finishing his playing career at Llanelli in the Welsh League.

Glan was called upon 12 times by Wales, for the Full International squad, but had to settle for a place on the substitute, as understudy to Dai Davies of Wrexham, in all the games never gaining a full cap, all bar the last one was while at Chesterfield.

After finishing playing he qualified as a coach, gaining a UEFA 'A' licence, and a goalkeeping UEFA 'A' licence. Glan then took up the following positions, goalkeeping coach and scouting for Swansea City, as well as coaching abroad for St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent and Hayti, presently at the date of writing goalkeeping coach for National Schoolboy level for the Welsh Football Association.

Although he was not a Scunthorpe United player he was still picked to play twice for Wales Under 21's during his loan spell from Leeds, his two appearances for Wales Under 21's whilst at Scunthorpe are:-

The following is from the Official Yearbook 1977/78 page 38.

England and Wales were both making their initial appearance at Under 21 level, before just 4,000 fans at Wolverhampton on December 15 and, as the scoreline suggests, it was a dreary match. It was a game of defences, with both teams offering little effort up front. In fact, England had only one worthwhile attempt at breaking the deadlock, when, with twelve minutes left, Barnes fired in a shot from some 25 yards only to see Letheran the Welsh goalkeeper, scramble across his goal to push the ball wide.

The ever-working Talbot did force the ball into the net after 38 minutes following a shot from local lad Sunderland, that was blocked by Letheran, but referee Jack Taylor had already spotted an infringement and awarded a free kick. With 25 minutes left, Barnes and Hoddle replaced Fairclough and King with the idea of adding more fire power up front and it was only after this tactical move that the Welsh defence came under any serious threat.

Paul Futcher inspired some hope for the future in the heart of the defence, although, ironically, he operates in a position where the senior squad is already well served.

His second appearance was as follows:- 9th February 1977 @ Easter Road, Hibernian v Scotland Under 21 Scotland 3 [Sturrock, Wark, McNiven] Wales 2 [Deacy, Sayer] Attendance 4,538
