Denied officially, but Yorkshire Evening Post claim that David was consulted in the process that led to Crystal Palace player, Shuan Derry not signing for Leeds United after it had already been announced that he was signed, 25 November, 2004.

David acts as a Football Consultant to new manager Alain Perrin at Premiership side, Portsmouth, until the end of the season, 7 April 2005
